Girls Optional TeamThe Girl's Optional Team is made up of four levels, Level 7, Level 8, Level 9, and Level 10. Optional gymnasts must compose their own routine based on difficulty, special requirements and bonus skills set forth by USAG.
Level 7The New York State USAG Level 7 Competitive Program is a combination of compulsory and optional routines. Level 7 is classified as an optional program, a novice optional program. This Level allows the gymnasts to create their own optional routines using specific event skill requirements. To go from Level 7 to Level 8, the gymnast must score a 31.00 All Around once in any sanctioned NYS USAG competition. Gymnasts cannot move to the next level of competition until this score is achieved. A gymnast may move to the next competitive level without participating in a State Championship, but may not skip any of the competitive levels. Level 8The New York State USAG Level 8 Competitive Program is a beginner optional level. This level allows the gymnasts to create their own optional routines with specific optional requirements as outlined by USAG. To go from Level 8 to Level 9, the gymnast must score a 31.00 All Around once in any sanctioned NYS USAG competition. Gymnasts cannot move to the next level of competition until this score is achieved. A gymnast may move to the next competitive level without participating in a State Championship, but may not skip any of the competitive levels. Level 9The New York State USAG Level 9 Competitive Program is an Intermediate optional level. This level allows the gymnasts to create their own optional routines with specific optional requirements as outlined by USAG. To go from Level 9 to Level 10, the gymnast must score a 34.00 All Around once in any sanctioned NYS USAG competition. Gymnasts cannot move to the next level of competition until this score is achieved. A gymnast may move to the next competitive level without participating in a State Championship, but may not skip any of the competitive levels. Level 10The New York State USAG Level 10 Competitive Program is an Advanced optional level and the highest level of the USAG Junior Olympic Program. This level allows the gymnasts to create their own optional routines with specific optional requirements as outlined by USAG. Qualifiers to the Level 10 Regional or National Championship may enter either the National or International level at the Regional Elite Meet without petitioning. Training ScheduleAll of the optional gymnasts at GBGC train 17.5 hours a week. |
